Transition metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions and Chiral Anion Phase-Transfer (CAPT) catalysis are already among the most important transformations in synthetic organic chemistry. However, only few combinations of these two methods have been described. Consequently, a novel strategy for the combination of Chiral Anion Phase-Transfer (CAPT) and palladium-catalysis is proposed in this project for the selective formation of a single, optically pure product. Once a suitable catalytic system is found, chiral tetrahydrofuran derivatives will be prepared. Furthermore, this catalytic system can be adapted for an intramolecular cooperative CAPT and Pd-catalysis. Thus, various functionalized indolines with interesting medicinal properties (e.g. acetylcholinesterase inhibitors or anticancer agents) will be easily accessible with high efficiency.
