Archival material concerning the activities of the police administration as well as the police forces are highly important for numerous aspects of historical research. Therefore the State Archive of Northrhine-Westfalia (Landesarchiv NRW) intends to digitalise those archival records originating from the work of the police administration in the administrative districts of Düsseldorf, Aachen, Cologne and Minden between ca. 1815 and ca. 1955. After completing the process of digitalisation, the State Archive of Northrhine-Westfalia will present the images online. The archival material designed for online presentation provides deep insights into several important periods of German history, such as the Revolution of 1848, the history of socialist movements and their prosecution in Germany, the end of World War I, the Weimar Republic as well as the Nazi-period and post war history.
