With financial support from DFG the Justus-Liebig-University (JLU) intends to continue the support for open access articles. Beginning from November 2017 the open access publication fund will cover for fifty percent of the article processing charges. The other half has to be financed by the authors own resources or third-party funds. An important instrument for the JLU providing sustainable cost structures is to include the scientists in the co-financing of open access publication charges. Getting financial support should carry on being easy. Memberships can continue also in a co-financing model and allow cost-savings with discounts and by reducing administrative effort (e.g. centralized invoicing). As a result of the co-financing model the disciplines, that already publish a lot in open access journals, have to contribute to the costs accordingly.
