With seed money from the DFG, the University of Greifswald will expand its existing Open Access Publication Fund. The fund is a central component of the University of Greifswald’s Open Access Strategy. By covering the costs of Article Processing Charges, the fund will promote the publication of original, scientific articles in truly open access journals that apply recognised and robust quality assurance procedures. The DFG funding will be used to consolidate reliable, administrative and technical support structures for open access publishing. In addition to the Open Access Publication Fund, the University of Greifswald will implement appropriate publicity measures and advisory services relating to open access publishing. It will also pilot financial support to its scientists for the publication of books in open access formats.
