The work plan places increased emphasis on numerical modelling of biomineralization at the REV scale. The model captures flow and transport of reactive solutions, pH-driven calcium carbonate precipitation, and resulting pore-space alterations. These affect hydraulic properties like porosity and permeability, as well as mechanical behaviour. Modelling is closely linked to bio-concrete experiments, with both together aiming to identify conditions for optimized and reproducible mechanical properties of the product.
