Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 327154368
The project provides technical and numerical methods for the coupling of porous-media flow and transport at the REV scale with free flow and with micro-scale simulations in multi-scale models. This involves the development of several coupling components: (i) iterative solvers ensuring a fast convergence towards the correct solution of the coupled system, (ii) data mapping between different discretisations, and (iii) point-to-point communication and load balancing between several parallel codes, (iv) parallel execution of dynamically activated and deactivated micro-scale simulations.
