Policies for sustainability (B07)
Subject Area
Economic Policy, Applied Economics
Term
since 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 326731373
The project analyzes how consumer preferences and geopolitical factors shape the transition to a sustainable economy. On the supply side, we empirically evaluate the impacts of recent geopolitical disruptions on industrial production, investment, energy use, and innovation. We assess the resulting implications for sustainability and analyze which adjustments to the design of climate policies are needed in response to declining international cooperation. On the demand side, we develop models of socially responsible consumers, from rational and naive consequentialist actors to those driven by deontological principles, and analyze outcomes and efficiency, as well as policies for sustainability, in general equilibrium.
