As part of the research on the neolithization process along the Danube, we would like to continue the project with excavations in the Romanian Banat, specifically at the Movila lui Deciov site, near Dudeştii Vechi. Two settlement phases documented at the site offer the opportunity to investigate the adaptation of a population from the Balkans to local environmental conditions in the first half of the 6th millennium BCE. The excavations started are to be brought to a conclusion in two field campaigns. With the help of micromorphological and ceramological analysis methods, the history of the settlement and the origin of the ceramics are to be examined. A special emphasis is placed on the processing of the organic finds by an archaeobiological working group (Antracology, Palynology, Paleobotany, Paleozoology) in order to understand changes in land use and nutrition in the course of the Early Neolithic settlement development.
