Project D03 will study how individual differences and the NC3 mechanisms affect 1) how a species responds to environmental change, and 2) how the species interacts with other species. To address these questions, we will develop a theory of nonlinear averaging in two-dimensions that incorporates niche choice, niche conformance, and niche construction. Our models will be applied to fur seals, fire salamanders, potato beetles, and sticklebacks and their parasites.
