Project Details
Ultrafast spin dynamics and its signature in the transient electronic structure (A01)
Subject Area

Project identifier

We perform time- and spin-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy to unravel ultrafast spin-dependent electron dynamics by mapping the transient electronic band structure and spin polarization after optical excitation. In WP 1, we study the signature of spin and orbital angular momentum excitation in the electronic structure of ferro- and antiferromagnetic heterostructures as well as altermagnets. We will address resonant excitations, e.g. of 4f multiplets. In WP 2, we investigate interfacial angular momentum transport. We will investigate spin dynamics driven by circular optical pulses, phonons or hot electrons. X-ray magnetic dichroism studies at Femtoslicing (BESSY) and FELs complement our program.
