Project Details
Ultrafast spintronic devices (B02)
Subject Area
Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term
since 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 328545488
In this project, we will explore the generation and detection of terahertz electromagnetic pulses based on ultrafast spin transport and spin-to-charge-current conversion. As an additional application, we will implement highly sensitive broadband permittivity detection of a material adjacent to a terahertz emitter. These goals will be addressed by two complementary approaches: By an all-optical free-space setup covering the high-frequency range 1-40 THz and by a combined optical/electric on-chip approach covering the lower frequency range DC-2 THz.
