Project A03 analyzes the development and segmentation of labor relations standards from a global and historical perspective. The project explores how segmentary regulatory patterns such as the standard labor relations in the West have spread to the Global South through global horizontal and vertical interdependencies. However, de facto implementation in this part of the world is severely constrained by international and national conditions. In legal-historical analyses and comparative case studies, the colonial and postcolonial manifestations of employment-related segmentation, including formal and informal employment, are examined.
