Mathematical methods are established for parameter-dependent, data-driven multiscale analyses. The focus is on creating a comprehensive computational model of the basal ganglia network to study movement disorders and improve their medical treatment. For deep brain stimulation, closed-loop control strategies are proposed that adjust stimulation based on real-time measurements of neuronal activity. Measurement data from multi-electrode arrays is analysed using nonlinear methods to gain a deeper medical understanding of how network structure and dynamics influence activity patterns in movement disorders.
