Secure and Scalable Blockchain Technology (S07)
Subject Area
Security and Dependability, Operating-, Communication- and Distributed Systems
Term
since 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 236615297
Cryptocurrencies and, more generally, blockchain systems have become widely popular. The goal of the project is to address the remaining scalability and security challenges of these systems. A particular focus resides on the security of blockchain wallets. The project will conduct a formal analysis of (proposed) standards such as BIP-39 or BIP-44 and investigate the protection of wallets against advanced threats, e.g., through side channels. Furthermore, the project designs a wallet system that is able to support multiple different blockchain systems, thus enabling cryptographic agility.
