Project Details
Optogenetic approaches to study platelet production and function (A04)
Subject Area
Hematology, Oncology
Term
from 2018 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 374031971
Key regulatory mechanisms of platelet production are only insufficiently understood. In the second funding period, we will continue to study light-regulation of megakaryocytes by our set of optogenetic tools and will develop new light-induced tools to manipulate intracellular localisation of target proteins, which will help us to better study their role in this dynamic and complex process. Further, based on our promising in vitro results from the first funding period, we generated optogenetic transgenic mice, which will allow us to control cellular processes in vivo by light.
