Final Report Abstract

In summary, despite the impact of the pandemic in the middle of this project, we have made considerable progress towards the understanding of coupled electron-nuclear dynamics and its control in polyatomic molecules. It is noteworthy that we pioneered the strong-field control of reactions on the surface of nanoparticles. The latter has led to a new DFG-funded project, which benefitted largely from the work here and fully focuses on the aspect of surface reactions on nanosystems. We also like to highlight the large potential of using soft-x-ray probes such as explored. With ultrashort UV pulses in conjunction with attosecond soft-x-ray pulses at free electron lasers such as LCLS, much more detailed experimental studies on coupled electronnuclear dynamics in polyatomic molecules can now be performed.
