The present project will investigate how the molecular organization of active zones affects the precision and stability of the neural temporal code in the olfactory pathway of Drosophila. Using a combination of genetics, super-resolution microscopy, in vivo electrophysiology and behavioral studies, we will examine how manipulating active zones of presynaptic olfactory receptor neurons shapes second order projection neuron activity and behavioral responses.
