The goal of this extension proposal is to continue the experiments on quantum dot spin ensemble dynamics using multi-color pump&probe Faraday-rotation in an external magnetic field. In particular, we plan to study in detail recently observed coupling effects between distinct quantum dot spin ensembles which may lead to entanglement of the spins. To that end optical spin tomography shall be implemented. Also the coherence of these entangled states will be studied and tools for their coherent manipulation will be worked out. In addition, we plan to improve and continue our spin flip Raman scattering studies for obtaining a comprehensive understanding of the spin states in quantum dots. Also our optically detected NMR studies shall be carried on to complete the picture of nuclear Zeeman splitting in self-assembled quantum dots.
