Final Report Abstract

Main scientific results: • we have shown that a form of modification of gravity can alleviate or solve a long-standing tension in cosmological data • we have shown that a model that has been widely discussed in literature is too much constrained to solve the above-mentioned tension • we have performed a detailed study of the well-known and often investigated "early dark energy” model and shown its limitations in confronting real data, also pointing out to how to improve it • we have provided a new methodology to perform numericaly demanding statistical analyises and released a publicly available code • we have investigated a novel form of screening mechanism and discussed its problems. Most of these advances formed the bases of further work. In the course of this project we published seven paper on international refereed journals and contributed to five "white papers”, all posted in public archives.
