We propose the development of a new method for EEG source localization. In the new approach, the activations of the sources and the system matrix of the forward problem are transformed to the spatial Fourier domain (SPHARA domain). This transformation will be performed using the SPatial HARmonic Analysis (SPHARA) approach developed by the applicant. The aim of the proposed approach is a more compact formulation of the EEG forward problem, an improvement of the condition of the forward problem, thus improving the convergence behavior of the inverse problem, an accelerated source localization at lower memory requirements and a suppression of the influence of noise. The new methods implemented within the project will be made available as an open-source software toolbox.
