Term from 2019 to 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 417949845

The aim of the project is the development of a method for quantitative description of the selective wetting and distribution kinetics of reinforcing hybrid-filler-systems in rubber blends and the corresponding heterophasic elastomers made therefrom by cross-linking. Thus the relationships between rubber compound formulation, mixing technology, morphology development and resulting properties shall be characterized and explained based on well-defined model systems. Therefore, in-line characterization methods during the rubber specific technological mixing process will be combined with analytical methods. By means of the fundamental knowledge achieved, the phase-specific localization of the filler components during rubber compounding, which is a decisive factor for the physico-mechanical properties of the elastomers, shall be describable apriori. The developed method will be experimentally verified using material systems whose formulations are expanded from application-oriented point of view.
