The research focus of the Department of Experimental Allergology and Immunodermatology is in the field of immune regulation in allergic and inflammatory skin diseases, skin cancer and autoimmune diseases. We are particularly interested in the interaction between different effector cells, such as eosinophilic and basophilic granulocytes, mast cells and T lymphocytes. We also investigate neuroimmune interaction mechanisms where immune cells interact with peripheral nerve fibers. For the sorting of human effector cell populations, it is vital to expand the current experimental range of methods, especially in terms of using a cell sorter which is able to sort cells without affecting their viability or function. For this purpose, a central facility for flow cytometry (FACS-Core Facility) is to be established at the University of Oldenburg. This is of paramount importance to medical research within the faculty and the wider research environment at the University. The required cell sorter is hereby requested in this proposal.
