Recently, we found a successful route for the preparation of Si-Al compounds containing the SiH2 –AlH oder (SiH2 )2 Al- units. This type of compounds was not known. Due to the weaker Si-Al bond, compared to the well- known compounds with Si-B bonds in organic synthesis, might have applications in catalysis without adding transition metals. The new compounds will be tested for hydroboration and hydrosilylation reactions. In the field of boron we are aiming at preparing cycloaddition reactions with bis-silylene and borenes and borines, respectively. Moreover we are interested in the stabilization of small molecules such as AlF, BF, and BF2 , respectively.
