The project aims at the critical edition of two medieval Hebrew translations of the first two books of Ibn al-Gazzar’s therapeutic compendium “Zad al-musafir wa-qut al-hadir”: Abraham ben Isaac’s “Sefer Sedah la-Orehim” (mid-13th century, translation from Arabic) and Do’eg ha-Edomi’s “Sefer Ya’ir Netiv” (end of the 12th century, translation from Latin) and the study of its Hebrew medical terminology. The project considers itself as an addition to the DFG-funded Project "Ibn al-Jazzar's Zad al-musafir (books I and II) - Critical editions of the Arabic original, of Constantinus Africanus' Latin version, of Moses ibn Tibbon's Hebrew translation, and of the anonymous Byzantine version Ephodia tou apodemountos", which is dedicated to the editions of the Arabic source text, Constantinus Africanus’s Latin adaptation (“Viaticum peregrinantis”, 11th century), and a third Hebrew translation, Moses ibn Tibbon’s “Sefer Sedat ha-Derakhim” (mid-13th century, translation from Arabic).
