Ritschl's lectures on the Catholic Letters from 1881 is to be published. In the introduction and in the commenting apparatus, first of all, Ritschl's work on the letters in comparison with the contemporary exegetes should be in the foreground. Secondly, the entanglement of exegetical and systematic-theological work to be observed in it is to be analyzed more precisely. It would not be surprising if Ritschl's special dogmatic position in the positional structure of nineteenth-century theology was also connected with a special kind of exegesis.
