The research project explores affective dynamics in the context of collaborations between Ethnologisches Museum Berlin and partners from societies of origin of collection objects in rural Tanzania. It asks which affective dissonances arise in the negotiation processes around restitution and decolonization and how affects and emotions themselves take on a central role in these conflicts. The project seeks to foster the development of collaborative formats that can overcome colonial frameworks set by museum institutions.
