Metrology for joining processes and joints (C05)

The subproject objectives are to improve X-ray computed tomography (CT) for mono- and multi-material joints and the detectability of small gaps and cracks in joint point measurements, which depends on the structural resolution. Complex scan trajectories adapted to limited accessibility and alternative evaluation methods as well as investigations and improvements of the measurement accuracy and structural resolution dependent on CT geometry deviations should enable robot-based CT measurements. The data fusion of energy-sensitive CT measurements is to be researched. The results will contribute to the understanding of versatile joining processes.
