Applicant
Professor Dr. Nicola Pinna
Subject Area
Solid State and Surface Chemistry, Material Synthesis
Term
from 2019 to 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 426969093
In this project we will combine the expertise on the synthesis of model carbon-based substrates, on atomic layer deposition and on electrochemical characterization of electrocatalysts, which are present at the Chinese partners (Prof. Geng and Yang) at the University of Science and Technology of Beijing and Nankai University, at the Singaporean partner (Prof. Chua) and at the German partner (Prof. Pinna), for the synthesis and study of complex model electrocatalysts based on late transition metal oxides and sulfides supported of tailored carbon substrates. The main objective of this project lies on study the growth modes of different transition metal chalcogenides by atomic layer deposition on nanostructured and conductive carbon-based model substrates in order to build clear structure-properties correlations and finally draw the basis for making it possible, at least for some applications, to propose the replacement of precious metal catalysts with abundant transition metal chalcogenides.
