We will study the non-equilibrium dynamics of strong-interaction matter based on a weak-coupling description, to describe the formation of a quark-gluon-plasma phase in high-energy hadronic collisions. We will perform analytical and numerical studies using classical-statistical lattice gauge theory and QCD kinetic theory, to establish a complete understanding of the underlying microscopic dynamics and calculate the effects of the pre-equilibrium phase in nucleus-nucleus and proton-nucleus collisions.
