The Global Media Journal - German Edition (GMJ-DE) was founded in 2010 as the first German open access journal in communication studies. Thanks to the LIS funding from 2020-2023, editorial processes could be professionalized and the journal was transferred to Open Journal Systems (OJS). In this follow-up application, innovative formats are to be further expanded without compromising scientific standards. We also aim to strengthen the inclusion of publication by groups that are often marginalized in mainstream academia. In addition, the visibility of the journal should be enhanced by indexing and by developing a social media strategy. A key goal is also international networking with other country editions of the Global Media Journals in order to exchange best practice experiences and contribute to the global circulation of indigenous knowledge production.
