Open-Access for German Didactics. A model for publishing in didactics.

Term from 2019 to 2022
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 427990562

The intended project will establish digital publishing for the didactics of the German language, by implementing the following criteria: (1) The published works will be available online as open-access documents; (2) quality assurance will happen in the course of a double-blind peer-review procedure in cooperation with a scientific advisory board with appropriately qualified members; (3) the subject-related design will support the interdisciplinary networking of the community of experts of the didactic of the German language with neighbouring disciplines; (4) the contributions will be accompanied by short papers in English, to support the international visibility of scientific outputs. Furthermore, it will also be possible to publish data sets and other material (open data, open educational resources). Whereas these standards are already well established in other scientific disciplines, in this respect there is still considerable need of further development among the community of experts of the didactics of the German language, due to the lack of appropriate publication organs. At the same time this project will put an end to the uncoordinated parallel publishing of research-centred and school-related publications. This way it will once again bring together again those actors who, according to their respective professions of school teachers, university teachers or teachers at teacher training colleges, rather consider the didactics of the German language either a theoretical, empirical, and/or a basic science. Under the comprehensive title of Sprachlich-Literarisches Lernen und Deutschdidaktik/ Language and Literature and didactics of German, four continuously networked publication formats will be established: a scientific journal, a series of scientific monographs, a science-propaedeutic series, as well as a series meant for the lesson-oriented transfer into the fields of practical work (e. g. teachers, heads of departments). The thus developed publication model as well as the appropriate resources are supposed to be transferable onto the didactics of other subjects and are supposed, by way of dissemination measures, to be made known to a wider audience in the course of the final phase of the project.
