Ein "legacy sample" von Roten Riesensternen für galactische Archäologie: die Verbindung von Asteroseismologie, Spektroskopie und Gaia-Daten
Zusammenfassung der Projektergebnisse
The project "A legacy sample of Red Giant stars for Galactic Archaeology: joining asteroseismology, spectroscopy, and Gaia data" aimed to provide precise ages, atmospheric parameters, and chemical abundances of Red Giant stars located in different components of the Milky Way. The project combined a multi-discipline approach to analyse the data, such as asteroseismology, spectroscopy, astrometry, and photometry. The project had three main objectives: 1. Characterize the oldest components of the Milky Way, the Halo, and the Bulge. 2. Construct a training sample of Red Giants with asteroseismology for machine learning spectroscopic pipelines. 3. Develop a comprehensive Training Sample for future large spectroscopic surveys like 4MOST. Key findings and developments include: Metal Poor Stars in the Halo: Spectra of metal-poor stars were obtained in 2021, and GAUFRE spectroscopic pipeline was used for analysis. New stellar tracks were computed to improve age accuracy for red giant stars. 30 out of 120 observed targets had good seismic parameters, allowing precise age determination. Future plans involve exploring existing light curve databases, using the new stellar tracks in various projects, exploring the spectra databased provided by 4MOST (where I lead the spectroscopic follow up of seismic giants), WEAVE, and SDSS-V. Stars in the Bulge: Two samples of stars in the Galactic Bulge and with light curves from K2 mission were analyzed: one composed of field red giants and one of red giants in two Bulge globular clusters. Unfortunately, no oscillations were detected in Bulge globular cluster red giants. Machine learning algorithms will be used to attempt oscillation detection in globular cluster stars. Future plans involve further investigation of the Bulge populations and the use of multiple data sources for analysis, among those: 4MOST, SDSS-V MWM, and ESO proposals. Training Set: A comprehensive training set for FGK stars with seismic data and spectra from various surveys was assembled. Collaboration efforts were initiated between different surveys for crosscalibration and dataset homogenization. Future plans include the use of the training set during the 4MOST science verification phase and continuous updates during survey operations. Finally, we will work on analyzing the 4S sample and contribute to surveys homogenization. Overall, the project contributed valuable data and insights into the structure and history of the Milky Way, particularly in understanding the Halo and Bulge populations. 4MOST calibration and validation plan heavily relies on this project. Additionally, the development of our comprehensive training sets and collaboration efforts will have a lasting impact on future large spectroscopic surveys.
