Quantum Optics Setup

Subject Area Condensed Matter Physics
Term Funded in 2019
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 430159793

For spatially resolved photoluminescence and time-resolved spectroscopy as well as for the investigation of the photon statistics, a micro-photoluminescence with Hanbury-Brown-Twiss setup should be constructed. This quantum optics setup is very important for characterization the optical and quantum statistics properties of quantum systems, which they will be investigated as part of the newly funded LOEWE project on Scalable Molecular Quantum Bits (SMolBits), which is an excellence initiative of the state of Hesse. The aim of the SMolBits project is to realize optically addressable molecular quantum systems and to integrate them in solid state systems as a novel, scalable and miniaturizable platform for future quantum computers. After 4 years of funding, this project will move into sustainable development, such as a Collaborative Research Center. Although the requested quantum optics setup is specifically designed for investigation the tasks in this project and possibly subsequent projects based on it. However, it is configured so that it can also be used for other topic-related research projects in quantum technology.
