Project Details
Application of single-crystal repair cladding on high pressure blades and vanes (T05#)
Subject Area
Production Automation and Assembly Technology
Term
from 2019 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 119193472
The work of sub-project B5 has shown that the process of laser metal deposition can be successfully applied in the repair of single-crystal, high-temperature-resistant turbine blades. In order to meet the demands of the industry for a repair method that not only meets the microstructural requirements, but can also be carried out under industrial conditions, the process developed in sub-project B5 will be extended in transfer project T5 to blades made from PWA 1484 and vanes made from René N5. The repair of these parts with powder of the same chemical composition and low weldability will be developed and tested under industrial conditions in order to develop a repair strategy that is suitable for production. The scientific challenge in the regeneration of these single-crystal parts lies, amongst others, in the transfer of the repair strategy developed under research-conditions to new materials and complex blade types under industrial conditions.
