The research focuses on the development of high-quality material composites by cold roll bonding in an XHV adequate atmosphere. By targeted preheating of the stronger composite partner below the hot forming limit, the flow stresses of the composite partners will be specifically adjusted for an easier processing control and improved microstructural and mechanical properties of the produced composite. In addition, relevant mechanisms will be analysed and advantageous parameters identified to enable in-line heat pre-treatment under XHV-adequate conditions. Complemented by a series of tests for combined (pre-)rolling under XHV-adequate conditions with subsequent rolling under normal conditions, the first step of process scaling will be taken.
