Project Details
Characterisation of functionalised surfaces (C02)
Subject Area
Technical Chemistry
Term
since 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 416229255
The objective of C02 is the development of a comprehensive strategy to investigate the surface chemistry of stationary phase materials and nanoparticles and their interaction with the mobile phase in separation process-es. To this end, complementary solid-state NMR spectroscopic, adsorption and liquid intrusion techniques will be developed, coupled and combined. An in situ adsorption solid-state NMR setup, 129Xe NMR spectroscopy, vapour adsorption, liquid intrusion, in situ gas adsorption calorimetry, and electroacoustics will yield a detailed surface chemistry assessment of nanoparticles and stationary phase materials including their pore chemistry, accessibility of solvent adsorption sites, wetting characteristics, surface energy, surface polarity, and zeta potential.
