Project Details
Spin State Control of Organometallic Fe(IV) Compounds through Interactions with Fluoride and Fluoride-Containing Ligands (B07#)
Subject Area
Inorganic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term
from 2019 to 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 387284271
Fluorine-Specific interactions in the first coordination sphere of metal complexes shall be used to experimentally realize different spin states of a model system. Ferrocene-dications (containing iron in oxidation state +IV) with varying substitution patterns will be combined with fluoride and fluorine-based ligands (e.g. F−, [BF4]−, [SbF6]−, [NiF6]2−, XeF2). SQUID-magnetometry and Mößbauer-spectroscopy will be used to determine whether the desired products exist in S = 0 or S = 1 spin state.
