Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 436382789
The existing GoeGRID cluster, used jointly by the research groups in theoretical physics and high energy physics, will be extended to provide computing power for the Klumpp group, which recently joined the University of Göttingen (Theoretical Biophysics, Institute for Dynamics of Complex Systems, associated with the Institute for Theoretical Physics), and for the generally growing needs of the theoretical physics groups. An extension of the existing cluster is preferred to a new acquisition, as this is more economical and makes it possible to continue to use the existing resources jointly and to use them efficiently through joint use. The extension should fit in without changing the existing architecture and software, so that the operation of the cluster can continue as usual and without interruption. The main focus of the use of the extended cluster will be simulations in biophysics (microswimmers, active matter, membranes), numerical calculations for quantum many-particle systems as well as data analysis and simulations for high-energy physics.
