In the shadow of the cathedral choir. Liturgical choirs of protestant parishes in 19th century Berlin

The project aims, firstly, to describe the regional discourse surrounding the church choir in the Protestant Church, to the extent that it is tangible in official reports and decrees as well as in the activities of the regional interest groups for church musicians. Secondly, the change in choir practice in the parishes of some growing suburbs (incorporated in 1920), partly independent cities, and rural communities will be described - in comparison with the development in the capital. Thirdly, the identification and analysis of church music works that can be identified as components of the choral repertoire should provide information about the aesthetics of liturgically usable music on the one hand and choral music suitable for church concerts on the other.
