Project Details
Multiscale Method for the Simulation of Resilience and Fracture Behaviour of Heterogeneous Structures (C05)
Subject Area
Applied Mechanics, Statics and Dynamics
Term
since 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 417002380
The objective of the subproject is to extend the multiscale projection method, which is capable of handling localisation effects for heterogeneities and cracks in shell-like structures at finite deformations. This allows for the consideration of the detailed mesoscale behaviour which is significant for failure of the structure within the assessment of the resilience of thin-walled carbon reinforced concrete structures with respect to different external loadings. Crack initiation and propagation are simulated using a combination of the XFEM and gradient-enhanced damage.
