Project Details
Neurobiological mechanisms of negative treatment expectation in an animal model of endotoxin-induced sickness behavior (A10)
Subject Area
Biological Psychiatry
Term
since 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 422744262
Project A10 investigates the neurobiological mechanisms underlying negative expectation effects in an animal model of conditioned sickness behavior. The effects of negative prior treatment experiences on expectation-induced sickness responses will be assessed at different behavioral, physiological, and neuronal levels. The particular role of the central fear network and the insular cortex for the initiation and maintenance of negative expectation effects will be analyzed with a chemogenetic tool that transiently silences neuronal activity in these brain regions.
