Subject Area
Personality Psychology, Clinical and Medical Psychology, Methodology
Term
since 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 422744262
Project A13 showed that therapeutic expectation modulation based on observational learning is feasible and effective in optimizing analgesic treatment outcomes in patients with chronic back pain or undergoing surgery, thereby reducing pain levels and (postoperative) opioid use. In the 2nd funding period, the project will test two strategies designed to optimize treatment expectations, i.e., augmented practitioner-patient communication and social observational learning in patients undergoing major orthopedic surgery.
