Project Details
Modeling the co-evolution of life and landforms (C07)
Subject Area
Palaeontology
Term
since 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 268236062
This project is based on the calibration and use of a newly developed coupled speciation-landscape evolution model. We will first calibrate and assess the behavior of the model and its response to climate aridification. We will then model more specifically the evolution of organisms (plants, insects, etc.) for which data has been (will be) collected in the Atacama region in the first (second) stage of CRC1211. We will also use climatic and uplift constraints compiled by other research groups in the CRC. We will ultimately use the model to investigate the complex links between the evolution of landforms and life at the global scale. We will devote efforts to promote the use of the model by researchers in other projects of the CRC.
