The project uses THz field transients to analyse and modify the complex conductivity of non-equilibrium carriers in low dimensional materials. In single plasmonic elements transient electric fields will be quantified and, by combining several of these elements, driven such that transient fields with orbital angular momentum will be generated. Experiments will be carried out in house in Duisburg using a near-field microscope and at the free-electron laser facility FELBE.
