Project Details
Quantum clock interferometry (B09)
Subject Area
Optics, Quantum Optics and Physics of Atoms, Molecules and Plasmas
Term
since 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 274200144
Project B09 investigates interferometry with atoms, that are in a superposition of internal clock states, and thus sensitive to the gravitational redshift. Such a quantum clock interferometer has not been realised so far and is one of DQ-mat’s most ambitous goals. With theory support by project A05, we will experimentally realize the first quantum clock interferometer. In the future, the quantum clock interferometer will be scaled up to metre-sized delocalisations in the Very Long Baseline Atom Interferometer facility, providing an experimental access to test the gravitational redshift with quantum-mechanical objects.
