From Molecule to Man: Center for Translational Imaging at Ulm University (MoMAN) – Stage II

Subject Area Radiology
Medical Physics, Biomedical Technology
Term from 2021 to 2024
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 447235146

In the first funding period, the Center for Translational Imaging at Ulm University (MoMAN) has been successfully established, focusing on bundling administrative tasks of the imaging core facilities of Ulm University. Due to the success of the MoMAN approach, Ulm University has decided to further support MoMAN and has granted financial support for the coordinative and administrative positions to ensure successful continuation of the center. It is the plan of the envisaged second stage of the MoMAN activity to provide the administrative, educational, and infrastructural organization toward the required future demands in the field of translational medical imaging. Here the major challenges result from the integration of multiple Omics data into imaging data, their systematic annotation and analysis, and the use of advanced data interpretation techniques especially following artificial intelligence principles. In this context, the envisaged MoMAN center aims for Ulm University supported continuation of the successful administrative (MoMAN Administration), extended by educational support (MoMAN Academy) of the imaging core facilities (MoMAN Imaging). In addition, existing activities of the Omics core facilities will be administratively and educationally integrated into MoMAN and centrally coordinated (MoMAN Omics). The establishment of a data repository (MoMAN Data repository) containing verified annotated and analyzed data from imaging, omics and clinical data will allow a common data source for advanced data reconstruction, modelling and interpretation.
