Project Details
Scale bridging simulation of dynamic wetting based on the phase field method (B07)
Subject Area
Chemical and Thermal Process Engineering
Term
since 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 265191195
In the project, the focus in funding period 3 is on the reciprocal influence of mass transport and wetting in multi-component systems. Based on the methods developed so far, the influence of solutal Marangoni effects in the vicinity of the contact line on the wetting process will be investigated. Printing processes and the imbibition of mixtures in chemically functionalized nanopores are considered as applications. In addition, the existing hybrid-atomistic-continuum method is to be extended to include multi-component mixtures. This approach allows detailed simulations of the wetting process on complex substrates, which typically cannot be fully captured experimentally.
