Project Details
Orexinergic modulation of neural resource (A07)
Subject Area
Molecular Biology and Physiology of Neurons and Glial Cells
Term
since 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 425899996
In this project we will explore the potential of orexinergic neuromodulation and the wakefulness promoting system to mobilise neural resources by stimulating prefrontal cortex-to-hippocampus signalling and to build up resources through increasing neural plasticity in the hippocampus. We will probe these functions and underlying physiological processes with behavioural, pharmacological and viral interventions at the micro-, local and long-range circuit level. Closely interconnected to other CRC projects we expect to obtain insights into neuronal circuits and cellular mechanism supporting battling cognitive decline.
