Electron beams are central to a wide range of research and technology, but electrons repel themselves by Coulomb forces, and beams are, therefore, never as bright and coherent as desirable. Here, we aim to develop a profound understanding of the statistical interactions between tuples of single electrons with femtosecond and attosecond time resolution in order to track down the macroscopic fluctuations of electron beams to their fundamental quantum-mechanical and electrodynamic origins.
