Chip-scale Quantum Sensor (A03)

Subject Area Optics, Quantum Optics and Physics of Atoms, Molecules and Plasmas
Term since 2021
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 434617780

Project Description

The project focuses on miniaturisation and simplification of gravimeters based on interferometry with Bose-Einstein condensates for a future shoe box-sized sensor head. Therefore, it will combine and advance techniques of single optical beam laser cooling with atom chip based trapping, condensation, and on-chip gravimetry with a performance beyond the state of the art. To enable high performance in stationary and transportable mode, concepts of sensor fusion for seismic correction will be developed.
